Status Quo Considered Harmful

David Drumlin: I wish the world was a place where fair was the bottom line, where the kind of idealism you showed [...] was rewarded, not taken advantage of. Unfortunately, we don't live in that world.

Ellie Arroway: Funny, I've always believed that the world is what we make of it.

I'm often stunned by the reluctance people exhibit to societal change.

We're so accustomed to the status quo of our society's habits that it becomes hard to accept that another world is possible or even desirable.

Sometimes the necessity for change is obvious (e.g. how our civilisation obtains energy), sometimes it is more subtle.

The first step is to identify problems. The second to find solutions. Here's a list of my personal favorites.
